3 Tips to Help You Start 2020 with a New Attitude

2019 flew by so fast that my head is still spinning. We're not just starting a new year, but a new decade. Along with the new year, comes the opportunity to create new habits and goals. What if I told you that tackling those bad habits, procrastination, low self-esteem, and even toxic relationships was easier than you thought?

Coming from the background I did, I used to think my life was pre-determined

and I played no part in the outcome. I realized that I am the variable like everyone else. Even if life IS pre-determined, our free will keeps us constantly changing our minds, habits, lovers etc.

That same free will can help you create the life you desire AND deserve! Believe it or not, no matter how hopeless things seem, you do have options and opportunities; you just may not recognize them. You have more power than you know. Your power is in your words, thoughts and most importantly, your actions.

Below, you’ll find 3 ways to stay focused on your goals, create new habits, and cultivate healthy relationships in the new year.

  1. Start your new year with a purge. So often we start a new job, relationship, or even year dragging baggage from the past. You can’t possibly expect to start a new journey (job, relationship, or year) lugging all of the things you had in your last. Sometimes we must stop and lighten the load. No one else can do that for you. If you haven’t already taken the time, go through your closets and throw out old, outdated items along with items that hold bad memories. It’s time to do so now. Likewise, you must take stock in your relationships with friends, family members, co-workers, as well as your spouse or lover. If you have toxic relationships that have caused you stress and anger continuously, ask yourself do you really want to start your new year off with the same people who have stressed you the previous year.

  2. Manifest Reality. You can visualize and design the life you desire and deserve with the powers of manifestation and visualization along with a little elbow grease. Don’t think that just because you create a vision board and meditate while chanting your mantras that all of your dreams will automatically become true. Remember, faith without works is dead. You must create the vision board along with meditating, chanting, and taking action steps towards your dream life. Visualize the things you’d like to do, see, and have in 2020, but also list the steps you can take to get closer to these goals and take action.

  3. Journal daily. Whether you keep a gratitude journal or a detailed life journal, journaling is good for the mind and soul. We humans tend to have short memory spans when it comes to our accomplishments. Journaling allows you the opportunity to look back in your life to reflect on your journey and how far you’ve come. It allows you to look objectively at the situations and people in your life and work through your thoughts and emotions. Daily journaling in the evening is a great way to wind down, dump your brain, and process your day before bed.

Remember, I’m stronger than my struggles and YOU are too!!
